I would like to introduce and welcome Jessica Sherwood to our Starlites family.
Jessica will be coaching our Vega cheer team with me. Jessica has over 20 years of experience coaching cheerleading from PeeWee/Youth to JV/Varsity to Level 3 All Stars. She started coaching PeeWees as a sophomore at Newark Valley High School; a little over 10 years later, she became the JV/Varsity coach for her al...ma mater, and an assistant coach with NY Xtreme All Star Cheer, then-based out of Owego. In 2009, she became the director of the cheer program for the Endicott Youth Football League. She rebuilt it from the ground up, welcoming children from nearby towns that didn’t offer youth cheer, creating a modified division, and taking the kids from never having been in a competition, to medaling, and even taking 1st place in their categories. In 2013, Jessica returned to Newark Valley to coach the NTYL modified cheerleaders to medals and victories in their competitions, as well. During her time with EYFL and NTYL, she also served on the board for the STYCC.
She’s super excited to be a part of the Vega Jr/Sr Cheer team and the Southern Tier Starlites family.
